Pray Accurately – How to Pray: This past Sunday, Rhema South Coast Family Church came together for a service filled with God’s presence and purpose. It wasn’t just the first Sunday of 2025—it was a moment to align our hearts with His vision for the year ahead.
Pastor Mandy opened with a heartfelt prayer, offering ourselves as living sacrifices and inviting the Holy Spirit to ignite us from within. It was a fitting way to prepare for the year ahead. The atmosphere was electric as the worship team led us in a spirit-filled journey, lifting up the names of God—Adonai, Elohim, The Great I Am. Their powerful praise prepared us for the Word, and we were reminded of God’s greatness and grace.
Sunday also marked a special moment for our church family. During the Special Offering for our building fund, Pastor Larry inspired us with these words: “The more you love, the more you give—the more like God you become!” It’s incredible to see our church investing in the future, building a space where lives will continue to be transformed. You can still be part of this vision by visiting our New Building Launch page.
Ebenezer and Andrew moved us deeply with their rendition of The Prayer, setting the tone for a spirit-filled message from Pastor Larry on How to Pray. Anchored in Matthew 6:9-13, the sermon reminded us that prayer is not about formulas but about a genuine connection with our Heavenly Father. It’s about aligning our hearts with His will as we step into the next 21 days of fasting and prayer.

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
As we step into this season of fasting, remember that it’s not about what God has to do for us but about recognising what He’s already done. Fasting and prayer are acts of surrender, aligning our hearts with His will. Let’s use this time to deepen our relationship with God and seek His presence daily.
Join our 21-day journey: 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer.
Pray Accurately | Pray to the Father
Prayer begins with acknowledging our relationship with God. Jesus teaches us to pray:
“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” (Matthew 6:9 NKJV)
We pray to the Father, in the name of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Many overlook the importance of this truth in the New Covenant. God listens to us because we pray in Jesus’ name:
“Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13 NKJV)
When we approach God, we do so with boldness and gratitude, knowing He is attentive to our prayers.

Hallowed Be Your Name
To hallow God’s name means to honour, respect, and praise Him with an attitude of gratitude. Psalm 100:4 reminds us to:
“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.”
Gratitude shifts our focus from our needs to who God is. When we exit entitlement and enter thanksgiving, we acknowledge His greatness. Instead of being need-minded, let’s become faith-filled, trusting God as our ultimate source.
The Names of God
Understanding God’s character enriches our prayer life. Each name of God reflects His multifaceted nature and His relationship with us:
- Jehovah Tsidkenu – “The Lord Our Righteousness” (Jeremiah 23:6).
- Jehovah Shalom – “The Lord is Peace” (Judges 6:24).
- Jehovah Rapha – “The Lord Who Heals” (Exodus 15:26).
- Jehovah Jireh – “The Lord Will Provide” (Genesis 22:14).
- Jehovah Nissi – “The Lord My Banner” (Exodus 17:15).
These names remind us of God’s provision, peace, healing, and protection. Let’s worship Him for who He is and what He’s done.
Pray with Faith | How to Pray
Faith is essential in prayer. Romans 10:17 tells us:
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
When we pray, we must believe that God hears us and is able to answer. Shift your mindset from “I want” to “I trust.” This perspective enables us to pray with boldness and confidence.
Five Benefits of the Blood of Jesus
As Pastor Larry highlighted, the blood of Jesus secures five incredible benefits for us:
- Redemption: By the blood of Jesus, we are redeemed (Ephesians 1:7).
- Forgiveness: All our sins are forgiven (Ephesians 1:7).
- Cleansing: Walking in fellowship with others allows His blood to cleanse us continually (1 John 1:7).
- Justification: We are justified and made righteous (Romans 5:9).
- Sanctification: The blood of Jesus sets us apart for His purposes (Hebrews 13:12).
These truths anchor our prayers and remind us of our identity in Christ.
Practical Steps for 2025
Pastor Larry encouraged us to embrace four simple yet transformative practices this year:
- Daily Time with God: Start each day in prayer and the Word.
- Evangelism: Tell others about Jesus and invite them to church.
- Service: Look for opportunities to serve others with love.
- Tithes and Offerings: Be diligent and generous, knowing that the more you love, the more you give.
The Power of Accurate Prayer
Accurate prayer involves more than words; it’s about the posture of our hearts. When we pray with faith, gratitude, and an understanding of God’s character, we align ourselves with His will.
Matthew 6:8 assures us: “Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” Let this truth fill you with confidence as you approach God.
A Call to Action | Pray Accurately | How to Pray
As we journey through these 21 days, let’s commit to seeking God with intentionality. Use the Lord’s Prayer as a guide. Let it lead you into deeper, personal conversations with your Heavenly Father. Reflect on His character, thank Him for His provision, and trust Him for the future.
A Prayer for This Season
Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching us how to pray accurately. Help us to approach You with faith and gratitude, trusting in Your provision and promises.
As we enter this season of fasting, may we draw closer to You, seeking Your will above all else. Let Your Word guide our prayers and transform our lives.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
