Hey Rhema South Coast Family Church! Last Sunday, Kurt Jackson shared a powerful message about turnarounds, and I’m so excited to unpack it all for you. It was a real “oomph” of a sermon, and I know it will bless you. He talked about how we can experience a Divine Turnaround in our lives, but it requires us to look inward and make some changes. So, grab a cuppa, settle in, and let’s look into this message together!
Receiving Grace | Not in Vain!
Kurt started by reminding us at Rhema South Coast Family Church of 2 Corinthians 6:1-2: “Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For he says, ‘In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.’ Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
He emphasised that “vain” means emptiness. Don’t receive God’s grace for nothing – you must allow it to transform you! It’s not just about accepting the message; it’s about living it out. Think about it: Titus 2:11-12 NKJV tells us that grace teaches us to live godly lives. Receiving grace in vain means we need to do some serious introspection and respond to God’s incredible gift.
It’s an ongoing journey of growth and aligning ourselves with God’s purpose. Remember, now is the day of salvation! Make decisions today that will position you for a better tomorrow. The Greek word for salvation, “soteria,” means deliverance, preservation, and safety. It’s all about Jesus, our Savior!
Understanding Salvation | More Than Just a Word
Rhema South Coast Family Church, salvation isn’t just a one-time thing; it’s a whole package! It includes:
- Deliverance from Sin: Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we’re saved from the penalty and power of sin. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Eternal Life: John 3:16 reminds us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
- Reconciliation with God: Salvation restores our broken relationship with God.
Salvation brings hope, transformation, and empowerment into our daily lives. It gives us hope and assurance, motivates us to persevere, and empowers us through the Holy Spirit to resist sin. These are, as Kurt called them, our key ingredients to a turnaround! Salvation is both a once-and-for-all act and an ongoing journey.
God’s Perfect Timing | Isaiah 49:8
Kurt also brought our attention to Isaiah 49:8: “Thus says the Lord: ‘In an acceptable time I have heard You, And in the day of salvation I have helped You; I will preserve You and give You As a covenant to the people, To restore the earth, To cause them to inherit the desolate heritages.”
This verse, which Paul quotes in 2 Corinthians 6:2, speaks to God’s faithfulness and perfect timing. It’s a promise of restoration and a reminder that God hears us. The “acceptable time” and “day of salvation” highlight God’s perfect timing. This passage is a reminder of God’s commitment to us and His ultimate plan.

A Transformed Life | The Key to a Turnaround
If we want to experience a turnaround, we need a transformed life. It’s not about staying the same and expecting things to change – that’s just insanity! And it doesn’t happen overnight. We need to focus on today, conquer today, and live in victory tomorrow. God’s grace is sufficient for right now.
Stop procrastinating – deal with those demands and responsibilities.
This is the season of the 10:1!
This is the season of the DIVINE TURNAROUND!
God is turning things around so that life is marking your life – abundant life, joy, healing, prosperity, peace, provision, restoration, reconciliation, and fulfilled desires.
- What used to be impossible, God is now making possible.
- What used to be impenetrable, God is opening the way.
- Where you were despised, you will now have favour.
- Where circumstances said it was over, God is birthing new beginnings.
- Where the odds were stacked against you, God is bringing you out a winner!
Taking Your Position | Under His Mighty Hand
The Lord is calling us to humble ourselves under His mighty hand. Our position of divine turnaround is to be “under” His hand. It’s by His hand that He delivered the Israelites from Egypt, and it’s by His hand that He will make the impossible possible in our lives. We’re in a season where God is showing Himself strong and causing “heavenly overcoming outcomes.”
Hope | The Anchor of Our Soul
In the Bible, hope is a confident expectation rooted in faith. It’s not wishful thinking; it’s trust in God’s promises. Romans 8:24-25 reminds us that hope is for what we do not yet see. Hebrews 10:23 encourages us to hold fast to our hope because God is faithful.
Hope gives us strength to persevere, it’s a source of joy and peace (Romans 15:13). It inspires action (1 Thessalonians 1:3), and it assures us of eternal life (Titus 1:2). Hope is a life-giving force that sustains us.
Transformation | Becoming a New Creation
Transformation is a profound change through God’s power. It’s a spiritual renewal, as described in Romans 12:2, where we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that in Christ, we are a new creation. Old things have passed away; everything is made new! Transformation is about moving from a self-centred life to a God-centred life.

Empowerment | Equipped for God’s Purpose
Empowerment is God equipping us for His purposes through the Holy Spirit. It’s not our strength, but God’s power working through us. Acts 1:8 says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…” Empowerment often includes spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). It’s about cooperating with the Holy Spirit.
So, what does this turnaround look like? It’s hope in hopeless situations. Transformation leading to a life filled with purpose, joy, and eternal hope. It’s being empowered to carry out God’s purposes.
The good news is: Jesus can turn it around! Remember, God is with you, and He’s working for your good.
Your Divine Turnaround starts now. Take your position and walk in it!
