Family Matters pt 6

  1. Marriages and covenant

Matthew 7:24-29 NKJV  ““Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”

Ezekiel 37:26-28 NKJV  “Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people. The nations also will know that I, the Lord, sanctify Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forevermore.” ’ ””

In Ezekiel 37:1-14, as the prophet Ezekiel stands amidst a vast valley filled with dry, lifeless bones, he is commanded by God to prophesy life into them. What unfolds is a remarkable testament to the power of God’s word and spirit, offering profound lessons on restoration, hope, and the promise of new life.ˋ

Our will vs Gods will in Marriages

Genesis 2:18 man should not be alone – so I will make a comparable helper to him. V21 God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep and from his side he removed a rib closed up the side and out of the bone he created woman and brought her to him.

V23 this is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh, and she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man.

  1. Marriages in the new covenant

Wives submit to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife , as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the savior of the body. The husband is head of the

Therefore just as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands. Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her, that he might sanctify her with the washing of the water of the word, that he might present her to Himself as a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

So husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies who loves his wife loves himself. Four no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes it and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

As in Genesis it is repeated that man shall leave His father and mother to become joined to his wife.

This is a great mystery but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Nevertheless let each one of you in particular love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Adamic covenant

  1. They were hidden in the garden – one with God

Hidden in Christ col 3:3

Conceal,  Concile – a council of persons in close deliberation’s, by implication and intimacy. Secret consultation— an assembly of beings over which God presides. Concealed +hidden as if protected from.

There was a union and a oneness. They were one in spirit body and mind. Daily – Adam and Eve walked with God. They walked together daily, in a garden they tended which flourished. Having command and power of all to multiply and subdue.

Bar one instruction to obey, which would result in and lead to separation from good, which was discovered after the fact.

Discovering their nakedness, when the evening came they after being hidden in God they were now hiding from God — avoiding His presence. Sin separates you from the presence of God

Sin-and your sins have hidden His face from you. As a result you cannot hear Him now.

The more space the enemy can put between God and us, the longer he can keep us from hearing God.

In a marriage his tools are among many… these stand out

Competitive spirit between one another

A intolerance for each others ways

Unnatural independence of one another

Lack of transparency

Money

Culture tradition rituals

Jealousy

Anger

Rejection- Jesus had never known rejection until the father turned his face away when he could not look at Jesus because of the sin he had taken upon him.

That feeling of desertion and rejection must’ve been the deepest cut of all.

Rejection makes us behave like the above.

But today there is no need for us to live like we have been rejected because the blood of redemption absorbed our rejection and has accepted us.

Rejection can drive people away from you and towards others, this is in friendships work and marriage… it’s not an excuse but it happens.

Ephesians 1:7-10

New Covenant

The fulfillment of all the above covenants and now it is complete and we are complete in Him therefore we are hidden, covered and protected in Christ. Nothing fear.

If we make a mistake we not too proud to repent and start again.,we place our shirt coming under the blood and keep moving forward.

BUT

Isaiah 59:1 NLT “Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.”

SINCE

Colossians 3:3 NLT “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.”

Separated

Hebrews 13:7-16 says we must separate ourselves unto God to do His good work and His will. And live from the alter of sacrifice doing good and giving thanks, offering up the sacrifice of praise.

Isaiah 59:2 NLT “It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.”

  1. Separated from God causes spiritual alienation from the influence of the Holy Spirit – Gods spiritual presence.

This separation is absolutely unnecessary and only impedes our growth and ability to develop Godly attributes.

3 Things that separates us from God

  • Our own will- our will is rarely aligned with Gods will. There are things that we want— follow His word. He will give you the desires of your heart if you follow His word
  • Sin, unbelief, fear- Isaiah 59:1 NLT “Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call.”
  • The fascination of the World – the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the lust of worldly things.
  • Entertainment, not being content, never feeling satisfied.

Our wills vs Gods will

In relationships

The first shedding of the blood of Jesus was shed in Gethsemane was the blood of faithfulness,

Adam was disobedient in being unfaithful in the garden- Jesus suffered obedience in the garden.

His sweat was as tho it were drops of blood that fell t o the ground, covering us and protecting us from the traps and the snares the enemy sets up for just us as he set Jesus up to be betrayed and then crucified. His blood absorbed our unfaithfulness and replaced it with His faithfulness in every arena of our lives… we can never be tempted beyond our ability to choose or resist temptation. We are unfaithful because we decide to be and because of doubt. If you doubt then you don’t clearly understand. We need to be fully convinced of our faith choices and decisions

When we are convinced we and dedicated or devoted to one thing—there is no doubt in our minds. We may falter in the flesh — James said to Jesus forgive my unbelief.

The enemy comes between to seperate our hearts with thoughts, luring us into snares by entrapment and once we are trapped we feel abandoned by God. Because of our sin.

Sin- once we fall into that trap, the ground then is hard and find we have wondered afar from the green pastures of his love below the high hills of his grace where the soft soil of our hearts are hardened feeling guilty and condemned for missing the mark.

Lusts of the flesh – the bottom line — we want what we want and will do anything to get it.

A wondering eye, a lustful spirit. Wanting and never satisfied.

Colossians 1:21-22 through His death He made us friends again, because we can never in our own strength and ability or capacity become holy without Jesus to, present ourselves without anything to make us blameless without Him.

Sin doesn’t only separate us from God but also from one another but Gods plan brings us back together in a restored relationship with Him.

Sin blocks us from intimacy with Him— busyness, disappointment, career and social media.

Busyness leads us to vulnerability and exposure to the enemy.

Romans 8:38-39

We can over come with help from Jesus.

Romans 8:37-39 NKJV  “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 3:21-26

God fixes up, our mess through Jesus Christ and the Grace of God. His Devine Grace a free gift from God. Being made free from sin through J.C God gave Jesus as a way to forgive peoples sins. Who forgives us through the sacrifice of the blood shed for us.

Forgiven

Romans 3:21-26 NKJV “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

Seoersted- for His good use

II Timothy 2:21 NKJV “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”

  • Seperate yourselves by staying in the word and prayer
  • Failure to remain Seperated from sin unto God in moral holiness causes believers to cease being a valid temple of the Holy Ghost
  • God will recieve believers in to His company, this is the idea of the temple;e again. He will be a Father to the righteous and they will be His children.
  • The state of difinitive self exclusion from communion with and the blessed is called “hell”

Separation from God is caused by sin creating a division between Gods and ourselves because of a breach of trust.

Sin is breaking a covenant agreed on by both good and us.

Sin and the choices we make Seperate us spiritually and relationally from God and then one other.

Romans 3:23 talks about the recovery from sin& separation

Which is the acknowledging that you have or are in sin and seperated from God

Leading to repentance=forgiveness’ followed by the process of restoration.

We may have forgiven but restoration is a process

Remain committed to recovery in Christ not things or people but Christ alone.

Time- the planting of the seed in freshly turned soil needs time to grow and flower and flourish

Arrange boundaries around your field or garden, have gates and signs up to say no trespassers- they will be prosecuted and put proper gates up that let the good in and the bad out.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

James 1:14-16 NKJV “But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

Sever from the connection to sin, people and activities that lead you to sin

Godly community

Intimacy– with those who love you and God & godly things

Not every thing is sin many things are good but not all things are GODLY

So we see how our lives end up broken but the blood of Jesus came to heal and restore,

Salvation is realizing that we have through the fall of Adam been alienated from God and through acceptance that The only way back to God is through Jesus Christ by confessing with your mouth that you repent and believe that only Jesus can save you by making Him your Lord  and turning away from Satan the God of this world. Romans 10:17

Isaiah 59:16-17, 21 NKJV  “He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him. For He put on  righteousness as a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, And was clad with zeal as a cloak. “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.””
