Hey Church Family, this Sunday, Pastor Larry preached on the topic of Lead Us.
I’m excited to speak with you today about our final sermon in the Family Matters series, and let me tell you—this is a powerful conclusion. If you’ve been following the series, you know that last week we looked at “Lead Us Not.”
We focused on how God steers us away from temptation. But this week, we’re shifting gears. We learn how He leads us, how we must surrender to His guidance, and how victory is ours when we let Him take control.
Who’s Ready for God to Lead Us to Victory?
You know, Pastor Larry said it best when he shared that God is ready to lead us into victory. But we have to be hungry for it. In Matthew 6:13b, Jesus closes His prayer with, “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” This is a declaration over our lives and relationships—a complete surrender to God. It’s a reminder that He is the one leading us forward, and our role is to live in obedience as His sons and daughters.
Let’s talk about that for a moment. We’ve all got battles—some of us are facing storms that feel like they’re never going to end. But when you let God lead you, those battles become His. 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (AMPC) says, “But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph as trophies of Christ’s victory.” Did you catch that? He always leads us in triumph. When we surrender, victory is inevitable.

Why “Lead Us” Matters | A Look at the Lord’s Prayer
This part of the Lord’s Prayer is often called the doxology, but that doesn’t make it any less significant. In fact, it may be one of the most important reminders of God’s sovereignty. By praying “For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,” we are affirming that God is in control.
Pastor Larry said something that struck me. He reminded us that even though Satan has temporary control over this world, Jesus holds the keys to victory. This means we’re not fighting for victory—we’re fighting from victory. That’s a powerful mindset shift!
Kingdom, Power, and Glory | Breaking it Down
When Jesus taught us to pray, He showed us the key elements of God’s sovereignty.
- God’s Kingdom:
By proclaiming “Yours is the kingdom,” we acknowledge that all authority belongs to God. Psalm 145:13 tells us, “Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.” God is the ultimate ruler, and when we recognize His reign, we can walk in confidence. - God’s Power:
The phrase “and the power” reminds us that God is omnipotent. There is no problem too big for Him to handle. Pastor Larry said that understanding this can bring us comfort in the toughest times. Jeremiah 32:17 declares, “There is nothing too hard for You.” If God created the heavens and the earth, trust me—He can handle what’s going on in your life. - God’s Glory:
When we say, “and the glory,” we’re reminded that all glory belongs to God. Everything we do should point back to Him. Revelation 4:11 says, “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power.”
Forever ties it all together. We must maintain an eternal perspective. What you do today doesn’t just affect tomorrow; it affects eternity. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 teaches us to focus on what’s unseen, not on the temporary things of this world. When we let God lead us, our relationships, decisions, and actions take on eternal significance.
Practical Ways to Let God Lead Us
You might be wondering, “How do I actually let God lead me?” Let’s break it down with some simple, practical steps:
- Pray Daily for Guidance
Start your day by surrendering your plans to God. Ask Him to lead you in every decision. - Stay in the Word
The Bible is our guide. By reading scripture, we align our hearts with God’s will. - Trust His Timing
When things don’t go as planned, trust that God’s timing is perfect. - Surround Yourself with Godly Relationships
Pastor Larry said that when you keep Jesus at the centre of your friendships, addressing tough issues becomes easier. This is so important in maintaining strong, Christ-centred relationships.
God Walks With Us Through the Fire
Sometimes, it feels like we’re walking through fire—just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in Daniel 3. But remember, Jesus didn’t stand outside the fire. He was in the fire with them. Whatever you’re facing right now, Jesus is right there with you. Matthew 28:19-20 promises us that He is with us “always, to the very end of the age.”
Pastor Larry said that understanding this mindset is crucial. When we focus on our eternal relationship with Jesus, nothing else should take priority. Whatever adversity we face, we can call on Him, and He will answer.

A Final Word | Living Out “Lead Us”
As we wrap up this series, let’s take everything we’ve learned and apply it to our daily lives. Let God lead us in our decisions, relationships, and actions. Trust in His sovereignty, power, and glory. And most importantly, surrender your will to His. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” When we do this, He will make our paths straight.
How to Use This Sermon in Your Life
This week, take time to reflect on where you need God to lead you. Is it in your relationships? Your career? Maybe your spiritual growth? Wherever it is, invite Him to take control. When you surrender, you’ll experience the peace that comes with knowing God is in charge.
How to Live the “Lead Us” Lifestyle Daily
- Start each day with prayer.
- Stay rooted in Scripture.
- Trust God’s timing, even when it’s tough.
- Keep Jesus at the centre of your relationships.
- Surrender your plans to God’s will.
A Prayer to Close: Lead Us
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for leading us in triumph through Your Son, Jesus. As we surrender our lives and our will to You, we ask that You guide us in every step. Lead us in our relationships, our struggles, and our victories. Help us to trust You more each day. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
