The Anointing of the Holy Spirit
Psalms 23:5 NKJV “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.”
Jesus is our example of how the Holy Spirit works in us and through us to do good works and preach the good news to the lost.
The Prophet Isaiah declared that Christ’ ministry would be characterised by the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 11:1-2 NKJV “There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.”
As He started His ministry, His first step of obedience was to be Baptised in water and then He was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:16-17 NKJV “When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.””
We too have received the Holy Spirit at Salvation and can enjoy His fullness when we are Baptised in the Spirit.
Acts 1:8 NKJV “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””
