Unlimited Potential: This Sunday’s sermon was the final installment in the Re-imagine series, and what a way to wrap it up! Pastor Larry delivered an emotional, fiery message that stirred our hearts and opened our eyes to the Unlimited Potential we have in Christ.
As I reflected on the series, I couldn’t help but think about the significance of the number seven in the Bible–the symbol of perfection and completion. It’s fitting that this seventh sermon ties everything together, reminding us of God’s perfect plan for our lives.
Our theme scripture, Proverbs 24:10 (NKJV), says: “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”
Adversity is inevitable, but the strength God provides through His Spirit equips us to rise above any challenge. This strength lies in unlocking the Unlimited Potential God has placed within each of us.
Let’s find out how we can release it in our thoughts, words, and prayers.
Understanding Your Unlimited Potential
Paul reminds us in Ephesians 1:18 (NKJV): “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”
God’s Spirit promises far more for us than we often see in ourselves. His light reveals the potential within us—like the blinding sunlight striking your eyes when you open curtains in a dark room. As we understand and embrace this, we begin to walk in His purpose.
Discipleship is the key to unlocking this potential. It’s not just about being saved by grace but “working out” that salvation in our daily lives. As Philippians 2:12-13 (NKJV) says: “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
The process of discipleship refines us, helping us align with God’s will. Every thought, every word, and every prayer matters in this journey.

1. What Are You Thinking?
The battle for your potential begins in your mind. What you think determines how you live.
Isaiah 26:3-4 (NKJV) says: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
Peace comes from focusing your thoughts on God. Your mind develops patterns based on the thoughts you allow to dominate. To experience the abundant life Jesus promised, you must choose thoughts aligned with His Word.
- A worried mind says, “I can’t handle this.”
- A trusting mind declares, “God loves me and will take care of everything.”
Key Thought: Your mind is connected to every feeling and action in your life. Choose to focus on godly thoughts to experience the life God intends.
2. What Are You Speaking?
Your words have the power of life and death. They reveal what’s in your heart and influence your choices.
Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) reminds us: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Speaking in faith unlocks God’s potential in your life. Declare His promises boldly!
Three Great Declarations for Unlimited Potential
- I am well able.
- My needs are supernaturally met.
- Great things are about to happen to me.
James 3:4-6 (NLT) illustrates the power of our words: “And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.”
Speak life, and watch God work through your faith-filled words.
3. What Are You Praying?
Prayer is the lifeline of a believer. It connects us to God’s power and aligns our desires with His will.
John 16:24 (NKJV) says: “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”
Sometimes, our prayers seem delayed or unanswered. This can happen when:
- We pray inconsistently or without faith.
- Our relationships or attitudes hinder our prayers.
- We ask with the wrong motives.
James 4:2-3 (NKJV) reminds us: “You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss.”
To unlock your potential through prayer, approach God with faith and align your requests with His purpose.
